Bacteriostatic Water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which helps prevent bacterial growth inside the vial after it has been opened. Because of this preservative, the solution can be used multiple times when handled under proper laboratory conditions.
It is commonly used in laboratory environments as a diluent for lyophilized compounds, including peptides and other research materials that require reconstitution before use.
